RUBBER trailer review

Earlier this week we had a new poster, and now here's the first feature trailer for Rubber. You've never seen anything like this before, unless maybe you work at a haunted Kwik-Fit.

Watch the trailer, next...

Errr, yeah. I'm still not 100% sure if it's brilliant or stupid, but that's the feature trailer for Rubber, the killer tyre movie. How he came into existence we don't know, but it looks like someone's done something to piss him off, as he keeps using his telekinetic powers to blow people's heads up. Don't judge him, you've never been in his position...I'm guessing.

What's obvious from this trailer is that Rubber's going to have a pretty weird sense of humour, but one that's definitely present. Calling a rubber tyre Robert is a pretty odd gag to start of with, and the (racially profiling) cops look like they're going to be bumbling enough to be outwitted by a tyre, albeit one with special abilities. Robert appears to have some voyeuristic tendencies, and even has to witness the genocide of his people at a junkyard. I'm sure there's an analogy in there somewhere, but I've not figured out what it is yet.

One thing for certain is that director Quentin Dupieux is a demented genius of sorts. It's a brave move to make your main protagonist a usually inanimate object, but who says you can't do it? From the look of this trailer Robert seems like a well rounded character to me.

Sorry about that one.
