Trailers are an important tool in building buzz and anticipation for films. A good trailer can sell a bad movie, a bad trailer can kill a good movie. Here we try and tell the difference between the two and pick out the most anticipated new films.

Obscurity Files #12 - True Identity
Obscurity Files aims to put the spotlight onto a series of films that time and audiences have otherwise forgotten. With Russell Brand's Get Him To The Greek in cinemas now, we thought it'd be fun to look at the last time a UK comedian tried a Hollywood breakthrough. Today it's Lenny Henry in True Identity.

Somewhere In Translation
Funny Or Die has just posted this new video mash-up of Sofia Coppola's Somewhere and Lost In Translation trailers. There's a few similarities...
I don't care what they say, I can't wait for Somewhere to be released. It's pretty accurate though, they do look the same.

The Social Network
The first poster for David Fincher's The Social Network, his new film about the founders of Facebook, was released today.
If there was to be a British version of the film, it may look something like this...
It's true! Everyone hates him now! If you've got no idea what I'm on about; firstly, you haven't lived my friend, and secondly, check out this crime against ear drums.

SCOTT PILGRIM kicks some ass
The new Scott Pilgrim international feature trailer hit the internet today...
There's so many things to love about this trailer. Lets take a closer look...
Michael Cera winking and looking smooth in his parka...
The Pee Bar...
Scott jumping out of the window behind Kieran Culkin's head...
The level of detail that's gone into these fight scenes...
This almighty uppercut...
And Brandon Routh's hair and cleaning lady speech.

Obscurity Files #11 - Nothing But Trouble
SLACKER Obscurity Files aims to put the spotlight onto a series of films that time and audiences have otherwise forgotten. With MacGruber in cinemas this weekend, we thought we'd look at another film from some former Saturday Night Live cast members. Today it's Dan Aykroyd's directorial debut, Nothing But Trouble.

The new trailer for The Smurfs hit the internet this week. Check it out below.
- It stars Neil Patrick Harris and Katy Perry
- It also stars sex-tape owner and sometimes Pee-Wee Herman, Paul Reubens
- The 411 days until it gets released can't go slow enough
- This trailer also uses the immediately disagreeable phrase...
- I hope that phrase gets re-appropriated by some disgusting sex act. Maybe Pee-Wee can help us find the right one!

The new Blu-Ray edition of Collateral comes out on Monday.
So far so good...
Oooh look, there's his taxi. That's important...
And Tom's got a gun. Oh yeah, he's the bad guy in this one...
It got a 15 certificate from the Irish Film Censor's Office. Okay that's not too important. Let's look at the quote...
Hah! Shoots to thrill, clever... Hang on... Who?
HOTDOG Magazine?? I used to read that. It went bust a few years back. I know this is an old film but could they not find a more relevant quote? Don't tell me this Blu-Ray hasn't been reviewed by a magazine still in publication. LAZY.
Let's take a closer look at the cover...

The Walking Dead
Production began today on AMC TV's adaptation on The Walking Dead, and whilst it's not technically a film project, I'm writing about it because it's going to be the best thing ever. The graphic novels written by Robert Kirkman create just about the most epic Zombie story ever and, fingers crossed, should make for a fantastic TV series. AMC have a pretty good track record on original series, with Mad Men and Breaking Bad being recent successes. Filming began in Atlanta today for the first six-part series helmed by Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption), and to celebrate AMC have released these images of the Zombies. They appear to be make-up tests but should give us a fairly good idea of what the final product will be. There's differing levels of the decomposition which may occur as the story progresses in the show, and the labelling suggests that this make-up will be used for the more visible or 'Hero' Zombies and a simplified make-up job will be used for background Zombies, which was to be expected on a large scale production like this. I for one, can't wait.
