If, like me, you found that to be the most baffling 10 seconds of your life, let me try and guide you through the facts. Released on the Youtube channel of chuckachucka2012 (chucka chucka being the name of that infamous vocal riff that's synonymous with Ferris Bueller and plays at the end of this clip), a user that joined this week with only this video posted, we're reliably informed that this short snippet is leading to a much bigger announcement on Monday.
Either the world is about to get extremely meta and Ferris Bueller is announcing his plans to run for President (as a Republican? I doubt it), or as that leaves us with less than a week until the commercial battleground that is the Superbowl, you can bank on it having something to do with that.
Whilst not a feature film, this commercial (for god knows what) will be for all intents and purposes a Ferris Bueller's Day Off sequel, which to be honest, I'm conflicted about. I'd love to see what the character is up to now, but not at the expense of trampling all over the legacy of one of the best films of the 1980's. I suppose that given the option, I'd rather see Matthew Broderick doing things like this than crap like Tower Heist and if Alan Ruck and Mia Sara also appear, I may just have a Hughes-gasm.
