So Where's The Dragon Tattoo?

As well as the official release of the first teaser trailer for David Fincher's upcoming remake of the Swedish behemoth The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, we now also have the first poster for what the marketing bods are calling, "The Feel Bad Film Of Christmas".

And it looks encouragingly good for a first look, showing that Rooney Mara's transformation from the mousey girl in The Social Network into the tatted and pierced Lisbeth Salander is complete. It skirts oh so close to being a little bit too naughty, Mara's nipples barely covered by some carefully aligned digits, but the look of the character seems to be spot on. I'll be honest, the no eyebrows thing scares me a bit.

It may just be a first look, and despite being quite impressed with what I see, I do have a couple of minor gripes with the image. Firstly, it'd probably be a better image if they took Daniel Craig completely out of it, as he looks a little bit lost back there. Is it just me, or does he always look like he's in Bond mode nowadays? His right hand just looks empty without a Walther PPK. The other issue I have is that for a film called The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, there's no sign of the aforementioned body art anywhere on the poster. Obviously, as an introduction to the character, putting her face-on is kind of necessary, but I'll be surprised if the actual tattoo design isn't used as a motif in the marketing of the film. As I say, these are minor issues, as any upcoming Fincher film is high up on my list of must-sees.

In case you missed it doing the rounds on the internet the other day, here's the officially released version of that first trailer. Gotta love that Led Zeppelin cover by Trent Reznor.
